Absolute Encore ~ Messenger of the Fantastic Realm
This is the stage 1 boss theme.
This song could be summarized in one single word: hype.
That was what i was going for mostly with this composition, something that makes you feel like "WOW, THIS IS A BOSS? THIS IS A STAGE 1 BOSS? HOLY SHIT", i wanted it to have a memorable and catchy combination of melodies, and a rhythmic feeling.
It also parodies a few elements from other Touhou style composers as a joke, like the "aah" cymbals in the reed romance part of the song.
The part where it becomes faster and faster isn't very Touhou-ish, i admit, it was a bit inspired by local holiday music of my country (carnaval) and old Russian music ...or at least, the feelings i get myself when i listen to those kind of songs, i think as a composer focused mostly on bringing out emotion, you often remember the feelings you get when listening to songs, rather than the notes.
Story:
Reimu encounters a weirdo called Fushitsu Kudosai, apparently she is a youkai with the ability to turn objects into gold.
She is guarding the entrance to a cave with an ominous presence, so Reimu says "the fact that we're already talking probably means i'm going to kick your ass", but the boss makes some snarky remarks and is excited to fight, of course, inevitably, her ass gets kicked, and Reimu proceeds to the next stage while talking to herself about a badly translated proverb that only makes sense in Japanese.

Among Wanwan's finest work resides in this album. A lot of it is simply very relaxing. This is the kind of music you can listen to on repeat for hours without getting tired of it. Alongside the more slow paced tracks, though, there are also some really awesome climactic compositions towards the end, which are my personal favorites.
このアルバムはこのWanwanの最高傑作の一つだ。この音楽のたいていはとてもリラックスできるでも最後に強力な音楽もあります。 Ash

The quality of this album came to a huge surprise to me upon playing the game for the first time. Each new track clearly draws from its original counterpart, while adding its own flair and shooting up the intensity by tenfold. How it does this, I'm not even sure. Each track screams challenge and perfectly fits and boosts the shrill determination felt by the player (or at least me) upon entering each level. default_nano
